What is Emergency Dentistry?
Emergency dentistry is crucial in preventing problems from getting worse. Dental emergencies can happen at virtually any time. Whether the emergency you’re dealing with is minor, like a filling that’s fallen out, or more serious in nature, like severe pain or an abscess, we are here to get you in immediately to be seen. Treatment of dental emergencies should be done quickly so that you can get back to living life comfortably.
Why might you need Emergency Dentistry?
You might need emergency dentistry when dealing with a dental-related problem. Emergencies may cause you a lot of pain, discomfort or distress. Some of the more common issues that we see include:
- Abscesses and infections
- Pain
- Gum bleeding and swelling
- Lost or loose restorative work
- Post-op complications
- Orthodontic emergencies
- Broken, fractured and chipped teeth
What are the benefits of Emergency Dentistry?
When you receive treatment for an emergency early on, it prevents the problem from getting worse. Pain from exposed tooth nerves and abscesses won’t go away on its own. You need immediate dental care to treat the problem and relieve the pain or discomfort that you’re currently feeling. It is our job to get you in at your earliest convenience so that we can establish a treatment plan.
What can you expect while being seen for a Dental Emergency?
You’ll come into our office and be seated. A dental x-ray may be necessary to check for problems, signs of decay and infections that are underneath the teeth. Once the problem is found, we will provide treatment as necessary. If there is an infection, we will typically prescribe antibiotics before you can receive treatment. Emergency care is available to all patients, both new and existing. We can handle pediatric emergencies as well as adult and geriatric care.
If you’re experiencing any type of dental emergency, call our office immediately and we will work to get you in to be seen.
